How can I resolve "no available terminal id" and reuse terminals on new installations in Softpay?

How to Resolve Terminal Configuration Error "No available terminal ID" and Reuse Terminals on New Installations in Softpay

When configuring a terminal in Softpay, you may encounter errors such as error code B.11400.1208. These errors occur either when the terminal is still bound to a previous Softpay installation or all are in use. To resolve these issues and reuse terminals on new installations, follow the steps below.

Important License Restriction Note

Be aware that every appId performing transactions within a month counts as an active terminal license. Release is NOT intended for repeated switching between devices. If you have multiple devices you need a license for each physical device. Releasing does not negate the license requirement of 1:1 between devices and licenses.

Common Terminal Configuration Errors

Terminal configuration errors, such as error code B.11400.1208, typically indicate that the terminal has not been properly released from its previous configuration. This can prevent successful reconfiguration or reuse on a new installation.

Steps to Release a Terminal in-app

To release a terminal in-app and make it available for reconfiguration, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure You Have the Correct Version of Softpay - Use Softpay version 3.0 or higher to access the necessary settings.

  2. Release the Terminal - Open the Softpay application on the terminal. - Navigate to Settings → Release Terminal. - Confirm the release process to unbind the terminal from its previous AppID or configuration.

  3. Retry Configuration - Once the terminal is released, log in to Softpay and attempt the configuration process again.

Reusing Terminals on New Installations

If you need to reuse a terminal on a new installation, ensure the following:

  • Onboarding API Access: If you have administrative access, release the old AppID. This step ensures the terminal/ID becomes available for a new installation.

  • AppSwitch: Use "Release Terminal" functionality in AppSwitch.

  • Self-Release Option: On devices running Softpay version 3.0 or higher, you can release the terminal yourself by following the steps outlined above.

After releasing the terminal, proceed with the new installation and configure the terminal as needed.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Always verify that you are using Softpay version 3.0 or higher, as earlier versions may not support the terminal release functionality.

  • If issues persist after releasing the terminal, restart the device and retry the configuration process.

  • Contact your support team if you encounter further difficulties or if the terminal does not release properly.

By following these steps, you can resolve terminal configuration errors and successfully reuse terminals on new installations.
