The device doesn't read the card

If your card isn't being read, learn how to find your phone's NFC reader and position your card correctly — or try a digital wallet for better results.

Updated today

If you tap your card and nothing happens, the phone may not be detecting it. Here's what to try.

Find the NFC reader on your phone

The NFC reader location varies by device. Check your phone's manual or the manufacturer's website to find the exact position. Samsung, for example, has a dedicated page at samsung.com/nfc-support.

Hold the card in the right position

Look for the NFC symbol on your card — it looks like three curved waves. This marks where the card's NFC antenna is. For the best result, align this symbol with the NFC reader on your phone and hold it still for a few seconds. Some phones have a weaker signal, so getting the position right matters more than you might expect.

Try a digital wallet instead

If you have a card saved on your phone (like Apple Pay or Google Pay), try using that instead. Phone-to-phone contactless tends to work more reliably than a physical card.
