Which phones can I use as a merchant?

Minimum device requirements for running Softpay — including Android version, NFC, security patch, Google Mobile Services, and the difference between consumer and enterprise devices.

As a general rule of thumb Softpay can be installed and used on most Android devices that meets these criteria:

  • Running minimum Android 10.0 or above. It is recommended to use Android 12+.

  • Equipped with hardware NFC.

  • Active Internet Connection via WIFI or Mobile Network.

  • Latest Android Security update is less than 12 months old.

  • Google Mobile Services is enabled.

Both consumer phones (e.g. Samsung, Motorola) and enterprise android devices (e.g. Sunmi, Point Mobile) are supported.
